Pixie Lott is still in a delightful state of shock after breaking records with her debut single “Mama Do” last week. The Brentwood native found that her song went straight to the top of the singles chart – though this is only the first single of what will obviously be a promising career.
Already the retro-tinged single about a girl sneaking out late at night to meet a boy is one of this summer’s anthems, and it will be followed by an entire album of polished pop songs on September 7, when ‘Turn It Up’ is set for release.
The sparkling blonde beauty really couldn’t ask for much more at the moment, telling Brentwood Weekly News, “I’m so excited and happy; I still can’t really believe it. I literally have the biggest smile on my face. Now I can’t wait for the album to come out and the exciting things ahead.”
Pixie, whose sound has been likened to other singers with a sixties soul-throwback style, has been working toward this moment for years, making the payoff that much greater. After being awarded a scholarship, the singer attended drama school Italia Conti in London. After going to an audition seeking the next big pop star when Pixie was only 14, she began working on her album while still in school.
Her new management team whisked her away to New York for recording sessions, and it wasn’t long until Pixie had scored herself a deal with Mercury Records.
Those who want to see more of Pixie can find her currently on tour as support for The Saturdays.
